Involvement & Support

CLUCK Red Deer is always looking for more support and involvement. The more that we are able to share and demonstrate the benefits of keeping chickens healthy and happy in an urban environment, the more the city will see that there is a real need to amend the existing bylaws in favour of urban hens -with parameters in place to ensure limits on flock sizes, to ensure roosters are banned, and to ensure the city has an avenue to intervene in cases of neglect.

If you would like to show support for CLUCK and get involved, you've come to the right place!


The first step, and perhaps the most important, is to let the City of Red Deer know that you are in favour of allowing hens with city limits. Send an e-mail to licensing@reddeer.ca, letting them know you are in favour of urban hens. The e-mail can be as simple as that, "I am in favour of urban hens in the city of Red Deer." We encourage you to elaborate, if possible, with your reasons for supporting the cause (food sovereignty, local and sustainable food production, animal rights, nutrition, gardening, education, the list goes on).


Joining our Facebook Group is a fabulous way to keep in touch, to get to know some of the names & faces that are involved and to keep on top of events, join discussions, find potential breeders and show support in numbers.


As can be expected, there is room for financial support to help CLUCK get the word out. We are very grateful for the support of Peavey Mart -they've helped kick-start some of the campaigning and they supply several of the items to keep our chickens happy! You can help out, too, by purchasing some of the funky items we have to offer!
